"The life of the arts, far from being an interruption, a distraction in the life of the nation, is very close to the center of a nation's purpose-and is the test of the quality of a nation's civilization." -John F. Kennedy
A lover of peace. dance, movement, people, health, culture, creativity, personal growth, travel, freedom & Buddhist philosophy/practice, I lead a colorful life! Having owned a Jazz Dance and then a Brazilian Dance Company for over two decades, I have traveled quite extensively to Brazil, performed in Asia, South America and all over the west coast of California. Together with my Co-Founder, master drummer, Fernando de Sanjines, I have participated and produced large contingents of dancers, drummers and musicians (1986-2004) in San Francisco Carnaval and other parades/celebrations, like the SF Ethnic Dance Festival and numerous special events, opening for many big name artists such as Santana, Bonnie Raitt, Boz Scaggs, Neville Brothers, Taj Mahal, Cold Blood, Malo, & Los Van Van from Cuba. Over the last fifteen years, our performing company has traveled & performed all over the west coast, Las Vegas, Mexico, Bolivia, Alaska and in 2005, Shanghai, China!!! www.sambadocoracao.com

Another passion is costume design & choreography and have worked on many youth and adult productions, including Peter Pan, The Jungle Book, Xmas Carol and others. I also have written and illustrated a Children's Book that I would like to get published. (Please send me any info or connections you might have on this.)
A new passion is a actually a mission of spreading life, health and prosperity around the globe! I have helped literally thousands of people starting with myself, improve the quality of their lives through some top of the line, patented products! www.visalusenergy.com www.marydollar.net
This year I have accepted the awesome challenge of being a part of the 2010 SF Carnaval production team as Artistic Director. I am looking forward to helping transform our theme, "Sounds of Color, Splashes of Culture" into a beautiful pageantry of dance, music, costumes and visuals from the parade into the festival and beyond. May SF Carnaval grow and prosper into the future for many generations to come...Viva Carnaval!
"It is important to love people, to treasure everyone. To the extent that we love others, we will be loved. To the extent that we work for others' happiness, we will enjoy protection and support. This is the law of cause and effect. It is also the path for developing our humanity." "Love" by Daisaku Ikeda

If nations are the products of men squabbling for territory and influence, then the Earth is the realm of mothers. This realm of mothers, who love life, is far greater and grander than the nation-states created by men." "Love" by Daisaku Ikeda

Mary Dollar "At a crucial moment it is the strength and courage of ordinary people who have no name or position in society that save the day. The famous, the well-connected, almost always have too much to lose, and they abandon the cause in order to protect themselves." Daisaku Ikeda
