Volunteer positions available:
Parade Marshals & Pacers: This is the most important task of the Grand Parade. Each year we need 200 Marshals. Marshals walk alongside the contingent from the beginning to the end of the parade, assisting the contingents in keeping pace.
Parade Barricade Monitors: As a Parade Barricade Monitor, you will be stationed at the perimeters of the Parade one block in each direction of the staging area. Monitors are responsible to prevent unauthorized vehicles from entering the staging area until the last parade unit leaes the staging area.
Parade Block Captains Monitors: You would be responsible for one block at the staging area of the parade. Duties include: To ensure that each parade unit is in front of the assigned address for that block, move parade units as parade begins, and supervise Parade Marshals.
Festival Security: Assigned to a designated area to be the eyes and ears for the Festival Coordinator, SFPD and Security Staff. Will not require to intervene only to report if any incidents occur.
Festival Runners: You will be required to deliver items from one location to another within the festival site. Would be accountable to Festival Coordinator and his assistants.
Parade Corner Patrol: You will stationed at the intersections where the the parade starts, and at parade turns. You will control the crowd from entering the parade route.
Flyer Distribution Canvassers: January through May, one or two days a month, people are needed in groups of 10 to 30 to distribute flyers, and hang posters throughout the Bay Area.
Special Events Hosts: All volunteers who sign up early have the opportunity to participate in the pre and post-Carnaval Special Events as hosts at VIP receptions and performances all over from City Hall, the AT&T Ball Park, the King and Queen Contest and the VIP reception. We need at least 10 people each month starting in March to set up, break down, monitor, sell raffle tickets and be hosts & hostesses at these amazing events. Usually more intimate settings, incredible performances, and losts of music, excitment and club attire.
Festival Stage Hands: You will be required to do some light lifting and moving of stage equipment moving bands or entertainers on and off the stage. Would work under the direction of the stage manager and Entertainment Coordinator.
Festival Parking Lot Attendants: You will be required to remain at the entrance of a parking area designated for staff, entertainers and residents. You will also check proper parking credentials and report to the Festival Coordinator and security staff.
